WELCOME and 9/2 Meeting Recap!

Good morning everyone and WELCOME to the Rotaract email list! Thank you to everybody who came to our meeting yesterday!! If you're new here, my name is Elanna, and I'm the (longtime) BW Rotaract secretary. You'll be hearing from me a lot this semester!

If you missed us, here's the recap of everything we covered, plus membership info:

Meeting Recap:

• We discussed Rotaract's mission of service above self, inclusion, and community!
• We went over membership requirements:
  • Attend 75% of general meetings
    • If this isn't possible for you, let an officer know! We can work something out for you.
  • Attend one Rotary Club of Berea meeting per semester
    • These are Tuesdays at 6pm (right after our general meetings!)
  • Complete 10 hours of service per semester
  • Pay dues
    • $30 for new members
    • $25 for returning members
    • We're figuring out ways for members to pay dues via service rather than $ - if you have any ideas, let an officer know!
• We're excited to announce a number of upcoming opportunities for our club - we'll be collaborating with an Interact Club in Prishtina, Kosovo, volunteering with some new organizations like the Berea Historical Society, and hosting a contest for this year's Rotaract t-shirt!

Upcoming Events:

• Come see Rotaract at the Service Fair on Wednesday, September 10th from 5-6:30pm on the Union Grand Walkway!
• Some shameless plugs we've been asked to promote...
  • Wordsmiths (BW's creative writing organization) is having their first general meeting at 5pm this Thursday, September 4th at 5pm in the Marting first floor lounge!
  • The Center for Inclusion has a For the Culture outing coming up for Hispanic and Latine Heritage Month: join them for a guided tour of Gentrovilla25 on Friday, September 19th from 2:30-5pm! Be sure to register on Jacket Connect as spaces are limited. Transportation is provided!
  • Euphoria (BW's BIPOC LGBTQ+ organization) is hosting a fan-making and line dance night on Wednesday, September 24th from 7-9pm in Sandstone 3!
  • The BW Sustainability Committee is looking for new members! Interested? Follow them on Instagram @bwsustainability and/or email jbeshara24@bw.edu to get involved!
