Mission
The general goals and objectives established for each of the programs are consistent with the Mission and Strategic Goals of the University, the goals, competencies, and traditions of a liberal arts education, and standards established by learned societies and/or accrediting organizations.

One overarching objective is integrating the major with competencies of a Liberal Arts Education. Students who complete an AHSW major will demonstrate further readiness for the 21st century workplace by demonstrated competencies supported by a liberal arts education, such as the ability to apply knowledge and skills in writing, oral communication, research, problem solving, ethical decision-making, quantitative methods, and social interaction.
