This Civic Engagement and Dialogue Summit invites students, staff, and community members into a day of reflection, action, and connection centered around the question: What does it mean to show up for democracy? The event opens with a land acknowledgment and grounding quote, followed by a welcome from the Vice President for Student Experience and Enrollment Management at Baldwin Wallace University. Participants will engage through Slido to share their intentions and set the tone for the day. A keynote spark talk—tentatively featuring the Cleveland Council on World Affairs or a civic leader from organizations like the Kettering Foundation or Braver Angels—will explore the power of dialogue in creating change. Lunch will be available from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM to accommodate varying arrival times.

Attendees will then choose between two breakout experiences: a Power Mapping Jam with Marsita Ferguson, focusing on identifying campus power structures, or a Relational Organizing Lab with Alexis Crosby from the Campus Vote Project, centered on building trust through one-on-one conversations. After a short break, participants will join small, peer-led dialogue circles to explore how to live out civic values, even across differences. Using shared agreements and storytelling, these conversations aim to foster empathy and action. The summit concludes with a group reflection, encouraging attendees to leave with a deeper sense of purpose and concrete steps toward civic engagement.
