  • Geiger Kyte Doster
The Geiger Kyte Doster Family Scholarship

The Geiger Kyte Doster Family Scholarship

Reason Established: William E. Doster ’63 and Leslie Kyte Doster ’64, a member of the Kyte legacy family, met at Baldwin Wallace and married in 1965. Bill studied political science while Leslie studied chemistry. After graduation, Bill attended the University of Michigan Law School and Leslie taught high school chemistry and worked for a pharmaceutical company. After Bill’s graduation, they moved to Orlando where Bill began his legal career. In 1969, former colleagues recruited Bill to join what became Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor, and Reed, a leading Florida law firm. Leslie found her greatest passion in studying speech and hearing disorders and helping individuals experiencing them. While a homemaker raising her sons, surgery to remove a brain tumor left her with hearing loss, inspiring her return to school to earn a Master's in Communication Disorders from the University of Central Florida. For more than 20 years, Leslie served as a teacher and speech and hearing therapist. She taught as an adjunct instructor at UCF, supervised the university's audiology clinic, and provided therapy in private practice. The Dosters continued to support BW throughout their lifetimes and bequeathed a generous gift to support an endowed scholarship and a supporting fund for BW’s Speech Clinic. This scholarship was established to carry on the Geiger-Kyte-Doster family legacy at BW by supporting students who demonstrate financial need.
