Mission
Academic Advising at Baldwin Wallace University is a developmental process of faculty members working with students to strategize, develop, and implement a plan related to students' educational, career, and personal goals. Through this interactive relationship, students learn how to utilize resources and tools to make effective, self-directed decisions. While this process is a collaborative effort, the ultimate responsibility for making decisions rests with the individual student.

Academic Advising is available to all students who are admitted to Baldwin Wallace University. Advising for full-time undergraduate day students is provided by faculty and Learning Center specialists and coordinated by the Office of Academic Advising. Students who have declared a major will be advised by faculty in that department or school. Students whose majors are undecided are advised by a faculty member in a department of interest, a faculty member who works with undecided students, or by the Office of Academic Advising.

Students should contact the Office of Academic Advising to talk to an advising professional about planning their courses, to discuss academic issues, or exploring different major or minors.

The Analysis of Movement & Performance Advancement Laboratory is in its second year at Baldwin Wallace University. Our objective is to advance research in the areas of injury prevention, rehabilitation, and performance improvement. We implement motion capture technology to assess individual movement patterns. This is a student-focused laboratory, offering opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to understand how biomechanical equipment can be utilized in athletic and rehabilitation settings while further developing their research skills.

The Baldwin Wallace University Bursar's Office is staffed by the Cashiers, Billing Specialist, Student Account Analyst, Federal Perkins Loan Advisor and Veteran School Certifying Official. Daily activities involve collection of tuition and fees, campus wide billing, payment plan administration, student debt counseling, Federal Perkins Loans, and certifying our veteran students who receive VA and military benefits, as well as institutional loan administration.

We offer a convenient, interest-free, 5-month payment plan each semester in Fall & Spring and a 3-month plan for the summer term to help families budget the cost of their student's education.

Why should I write a thank you letter for my BW scholarship?
Baldwin Wallace University donors have created over 400 scholarships to support BW students like you in financing your education. Because donors are helping you attend BW, we encourage you to express your gratitude in letter of thanks, telling them a bit about yourself including your year in school, your major, your involvement in campus clubs, organizations or athletics, and your career aspirations.

When a donor receives your thank you letter, it creates a positive impression of you and of the University. It also encourages donors to continue supporting student scholarships at BW.

How do I submit a thank you letter to my scholarship donor?
Get started:
Under the Resources tab, you will find some sample letters to guide you in the writing process. While these letters can help you with style, formatting, and length, try to write about your own experiences in your own words. We encourage you to add a photo of yourself as well.
Instructions for writing and submitting your thank you letter:
- Under the Scholarships tab, review the list of scholarships organized alphabetically by the donor’s last name and find the scholarship you have been awarded.
- Identify the person who will receive your thank you letter (listed in each scholarship entry).
- Under the Resources tab, review sample thank you letters and read about tips for writing a strong thank you letter.
- When your letter is drafted, go to the Submit menu and upload a letter, or type one into the window provided. Please be sure to include your name and contact information and the correct name of your scholarship. Please upload a photo of yourself to include. BW’s Center for Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement will send the letter to your donor.
If you are comfortable with doing so, please also check the box giving permission to use your thank you letter text and/or photo in other marketing materials.
Who selected me for this scholarship?
BW scholarship awarding decisions are made by the Office of Financial Aid, often with guidance from BW faculty and staff. Students are selected based on their financial need and factors specified by the donor. Faculty and staff also recommend students based on merit (academic or artistic), leadership and service. Mission
The mission of the organization shall be to support women, minority groups, and other Baldwin Wallace University (BWU) students who are passionate about academic disciplines housed in the Knowlton Center (physics, math, engineering, computing, data science/analytics, and future underrepresented areas of STEM). BW Women for STEM also aims to allow BW students to share their related STEM passions with the local community and support students studying academic disciplines housed in the Knowlton Center.

The mission and purpose of BW Cosmos shall be to create a cappella music at a competitive level, foster friendships, and cultivate an environment of positive ambition. BW Cosmos, consisting of full-time undergraduate students in any major, aims to serve the community of Baldwin Wallace University and surrounding areas with a focus on pop and indie music genres. BW Cosmos is part of the Fine Arts Council of Student Organizations and as such, follows its mission statement as well as Cosmos’ own statement detailed above.

The Dayton C. Miller Honor Society was founded at Baldwin Wallace University in the fall of 1948. The Society's purpose was then and continues to be the recognition of academic excellence. Members are selected for consistently maintaining superior academic work. Only four percent of the undergraduate student body achieves membership. In paying tribute to new members we recognize those who have excelled in significant ways, and we also remind ourselves of the major functions of a university: to foster learning and to develop scholars.

The Faculty and Staff Message Board is where BW employees can post announcements and information to share with their BW colleagues. There are two channels in the message board:

GENERAL CHANNEL: This channel is for campus updates concerning programs, services, or resources; reminders about upcoming events; and community messages of congratulations, condolences, community-building, service, spiritual and philanthropic.

CLASSIFIEDS CHANNEL: This channel is where employees can sell stuff, buy stuff, or make/request recommendations on professional services.

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) is a committee mandated by federal law to protect the rights and welfare of human subjects participating in research activities. The law is specific to research conducted or supported by a federal department or agency. However, a majority of research institutions, including Baldwin Wallace University, voluntarily apply this regulation (45 CFR 46) to all research conducted at their site, regardless of status or source of funding. The IRB achieves its primary function, protecting the rights and welfare of subjects participating in research including their rights to give informed consent and to have their safety protected from undue risk, by educating researchers. An educated investigator makes the IRB's job easier.

Baldwin Wallace University is committed to safeguarding the rights and welfare of both human and animal subjects involved in the conduct of research by BW faculty, students, and staff. Baldwin Wallace supports responsible research which promises to increase knowledge and understanding, and encourages the highest ethical standards among BW researchers. To ensure these safeguards and standards are met, the Office of Responsible Research houses an Institutional Review Board (IRB), for the protection of human subjects and, an Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), for the protection of animal subjects.

Baldwin Wallace University has three libraries to assist students. Ritter Library provides access to books, periodicals, reference librarians, study rooms, curriculum center materials, AV materials and much more. The University Archivist is located in Room 224 of Ritter Library. The building also houses The Learning Center, Writing Lab, and Reading Center (located on the top floor of the building). Jones Music Library supports the undergraduate program of the Conservatory of Music and is located in Merner-Pfeiffer Hall. The Riemenschneider Bach Institute (RBI) is located in the Boesel Musical Arts Building and functions primarily as a research library.

The Baldwin Wallace University Marching Yellow Jackets is a spirited ensemble of musicians from all areas of the BW campus. Membership is open to anyone attending BW. The band also includes the Jackettes, a flag/dance team that includes women representing a wide variety of majors and interests. The Marching Yellow Jackets perform at all home football games. The band has two 2- hour rehearsals a week and also has a short rehearsal the day of a performance.

The mission of the clinical mental health counseling program at Baldwin Wallace University is to prepare ethical and compassionate professional counselors with excellent clinical skills ready to meet the mental health needs of diverse clients across the lifespan. Faculty with relevant clinical experience engage students in meaningful real-world learning throughout their graduate education in preparation to meet the requirements of the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage and Family Therapist (CSW & MFT) Board to become licensed professional counselors.

OFFICE LOCATION & HOURS:
SEaL is located in the Student Life Center (SLC) on the upper level of Strosacker Hall (Union). During the academic year the SLC is staffed Monday thru Thursday from 8:30am-5pm and on Fridays from 8:30am-3pm. SEaL staff members are often available during these times - but if you want to schedule a formal meeting (to ensure someone is there), please email stuclubs@bw.edu.

The goal of the Office of Registration & Records at Baldwin Wallace University is to provide exceptional resources that assist students successfully from enrollment to graduation and beyond to ultimately achieve their academic and career goals.

As its name suggests, the primary mission of the Office of Registration & Records is the successful registration of students in classes and the careful maintenance of each student's academic record.

The office seeks to provide personal service while utilizing an electronic registration and program audit system to streamline its many functions, which include: evaluation of work taken at other institutions, adding and dropping courses, processing grades and changing temporary grades, verifying enrollment for loan and employment purposes and finally, checking requirements so students may graduate and receive their diploma.
