In order to provide you with relevant fire safety information this holiday season (and combat information overload), we've curated this list of some of the best fire safety information we could find. Each site on this list is nationally known and widely recognized, being sponsored either by a governmental agency or a reputable non-governmental organization.

The National Fire Protective Association (NFPA) develops safety codes and provides training and information for industry professionals and the general public, and is one of the best known non-governmental safety groups. Their page on Home Fire Safety features Tip Sheets, Social Media Cards, and educational materials on topics ranging from "Cooking Safety" and "Thanksgiving Fire Safety" to entire lesson plans and reference guides.

The American Red Cross has provided relief assistance and training for over a century. Their Home Fire Safety page has "Top Tips for Fire Safety", preparation and prevention tips, fact sheets, and safety checklists available to download.

FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) has the U.S. Fire Administration under its umbrella. They have an online catalog of publications, as well as educational links on their Home Fires page (and they have lots of pages and links for other information as well).

The Ohio Department of Commerce has a State Fire Marshal Fire Prevention page with guides and even items for kids.

If you camp, travel, or have an interest in the well being of public lands, the National Interagency Fire Center has some information for you on their Fire Prevention, Education and Mitigation page. You'll find tips, downloadable guides, and informative videos.

Make Me A Firefighter provides information regarding service as a volunteer fire fighter. Nationally more than 2/3 of responders are volunteers. If there is "a Fire in You" to get involved, check out this link!
