When she isn’t playing with her two dogs and ten-year-old daughter, Kate loves to catch plays at Playhouse Square and Cleveland Monsters hockey games at Rocket Arena. Her favorite NHL team is the Seattle Kraken and her favorite shows are Beetlejuice and The King and I. She is passionate about education and helping her students and fellow veterans succeed in all their endeavors.

VA School Certifying Official
Marcia Shaffer is a dedicated and long-standing member of the BW team. With a deep commitment to supporting those who have served, she fulfills the responsibilities of the School Certifying Official. In this role, Marcia works closely with Veteran students and their dependents, guiding them through the certification process and helping them navigate education benefits, school billing, and financial aid. Her expertise and compassionate support make her a trusted resource for military-connected students.

Megan drinks way too much coffee and attempts to keep up with her husband, two kids, two grey cats, nineteen houseplants, and hundreds of students. She loves that students expose her to new concepts as they work together on readings for BW courses across all disciplines.
