*HIGHLIGHTED EVENT OF THE SEMESTER! Hand-in-Hand: Spirituality and Healthcare

We had the pleasure of hosting the Cleveland Clinic's Spiritual Care Team for an expert panel on hospital chaplaincy. This interactive event helped students explore how to provide healthcare to those of diverse faith backgrounds and how chaplaincy can help everyone, not just religious patients.

Wednesday, November 12 in the Center for Innovation and Growth (CIG) from 6:30-8:30pm

Zen Meditation with the Asian Student Alliance

The WISE Center collaborated with ASA on a field trip to Cloudwater Zendo in Cleveland's Asiatown! Students learned and experimented with Zen Buddhist meditation. Afterwards, we visited a local Korean restaurant and went shopping for some new snacks.

Intersectionality: Queer and Religious Jacket Circle

WISE student fellows collaborated with BW Pride Hive to hold a "Jacket Circle," BW's deep discussion circles focused on community healing, on the intersectionality between LGBTQ+ and religious identities. This event was a great opportunity for students to learn from each other about their unique experiences!

Dia de los Muertos in Downtown Cleveland

The Center for Inclusion and WISE Center took students on a field trip to downtown Cleveland's annual Dia de los Muertos parade! Students got to try a variety of cultural activities and cuisines, building community with each other and Greater Cleveland.

First People Day at the Rocky River Nature Center

The Center for Inclusion and WISE Center took students to the Rocky River Nature Center for their annual First People Day event! Students listened to expert lectures on indigenous history, purchased art from indigenous vendors, and participated in a river blessing along the Rocky River.

Between Worlds: An Interfaith Halloween Celebration

This collaborative event with the WISE Center, Spanish and Latine Student Association (SALSA), and Catholic Jackets highlighted different faith traditions around Halloween, such as Dia de los Muertos and Samhein, through arts and crafts, traditional treats, and face painting!

Friday, November 7 on the Union West lawn (Rain location: Sandstone 2) from 5-8pm

Remaining Native: A FREE Documentary Screening

The WISE Center hosted BW students, faculty, and members of the community at a free screening of Remaining Native, a coming-of-age documentary about a Native American runner and his journey to college and finding his own identity and heritage.
