Orientation FAQs

  • Is Orientation required?

    Yes! All first-year students must attend an Orientation session. Transfer students under age 24 are required to attend.

  • Do I have to attend all day?

    Yes, the sessions throughout the day are created to build upon one another and to ultimately give students a good foundation for their start at BW.

  • Do parents and families have to attend?

    It is not required to have a parent or family member attend, but there is programming specific for families during Orientation which will help them learn more about what their student will experience at BW.

  • Can I bring a friend or significant other with me?

    Any guest you bring needs to be registered as a guest. They will not be with you during much of the day.

  • Can I be in the same group as my friend/teammate/roommate who is also coming the same day?

    You will spend most of the day in your assigned color group, so there will be lots of times that you aren't together.

  • How long is Orientation?

    Check-in begins at 9:15 am and the day ends with Ask & Explore opportunities between 3:00-4:00 pm.

  • What do I need to bring to Orientation?

    A refillable water bottle and your phone with BW credentials and password. Dress for time both indoors and out. If you are a student-athlete bring the information needed to complete your medical information forms required. Details here: (put link to athletes link)

  • Can I see my residence hall room?

    Unfortunately, it is not possible to view your specific residence hall room. However, a 3-D rendering of your room is available after room selection in June.

  • I'm an athlete, can I see my coach?

    Any time with your coach needs to take place prior to or following Orientation and needs to be scheduled on your own.

  • Will I get my class schedule?

    Yes, you will get access to your fall class schedule during one of the sessions during Orientation.

  • Can I get BW swag?

    Yes, the Buzz on Front will be open for shopping between 10:00am-4:00pm.

  • Will I have fun?

    We sure hope so! We try to make the day the right mix of important information and time to connect with your classmates!
