General Overview for Friday, August 22, 2025
New-to-BW students will receive an email to their BW account asking them to sign-up for a move in time via SignUp Genius by August 1.
Students who are part of the Conservatory and Athletics should try to choose a time before 12pm due to afternoon commitments.
Consider packing with reusable storage totes, bringing a hand truck, and renting a microfridge from Bedloft. There are several stores close by to pick up last minute items. Having snacks/water on hand is always a good idea.
View our "Things to Bring" list and hall amenities guide. Talking to your room/suitemate ahead of time can ensure you aren't duplicating items.
Signs will direct students to the check-in area. Students will need to bring a photo ID to get their keys.
Family/support systems should stay with the car and start unloading. The goal is to unload vehicles as quickly as possible. BW volunteers may be there to assist with moving in items. There will be a limited number of carts/hand trucks available to assist.
Talk with your room/suitemate as you decide how to set up the space. All BW furniture must stay in the room. The BW Handbook includes info on prohibited items, including decorations. Please be careful not to damage walls (LED lights &command strips can leave damage--especially on drywall). Having a small toolkit or boxcutter on hand may be helpful when unpacking.
Please take recycling and/or big trash items to the nearest dumpster.
BW furniture cannot be removed from the room or stored.
On August 22, 2025, please visit your hall's check-in table to ask about available carts/hand trucks and basic tools to borrow. Hall kitchens will have some water available (while supplies last).
We love animals, but please leave your pets at home during move in. Thank you!

You are able to order after this deadline, but delivery may be delayed until after move-in day and price may increase.

advice about move in:
"Take 1/2 of what you think you need. Label everything! Space is very limited.
A must is shower shoes!!"
"Pack by area - all bedding in one bin, cleaning/shower/towels in another. Folded clothes in suitcase. Clothes leave on hangers, zip tie 5 or so together and drape a large garbage bag to cover (rain). Then just hang right in the wardrobe. A trunk is great for room decorations, desk supplies, or books."
"Pack bedding in reverse order of how you would make the bed. For example, start with the comforter and pillows at the bottom, then fitted sheet, mattress pad, mattress cover/allergen cover so that when you unpack you start with the mattress cover and make the bed in proper order as you unpack. We do this in a space bag which also helps keep the space these items take up to as small as possible."
"Get things up to the room as quickly and efficiently as possible. That helps to keep the chaos more controlled. Be thoughtful of others and be aware of the space you take up so that they can fit as many in as orderly way as possible to help everyone get in and out. Everyone is stressed and being kind makes it easier for all."
