Audition Information- Fall 2026

Choral Auditions

Welcome to the 2026/2027 academic year! You will find choral audition information and materials in attached document titled F_2026 Choral Placement-Auditions. All Vocal Music Majors (Music Education, Vocal Performance, Music Theater) must audition, unless the ensemble requirement is complete, and all students are welcome to audition.

All choral auditions will be held in the Kadel Vocal Music Hall located within the Boesel Musical Arts Center, and you may sign up at the link below.

Instrumental Auditions

Welcome to the 2026/2027 academic year! You will find instrumental audition information and materials in the links below. Conservatory students with an instrumental primary are required to audition, and all students are welcome to audition. Choral audition information will be released soon.

Audition expectations:

Students will prepare and perform to the best of their ability

Students will have listened to each piece (in its entirety) with their part (and/or a full score) in hand

Students will perform their excerpts close to or at performance tempo

Students will dress in an appropriate manner for auditions (at the minimum, no t-shirts/shorts)

Audition Sign Up Instructions and Link:

Please only select one audition time slot and use the earliest time slots first, avoiding gaps between signups unless absolutely necessary.

Ensure that you sign up for a timeslot for your instrument, and follow the correct location listed in Signup Genius.

Auditions that are listed as “G Auditorium,” are also located within Gamble Auditorium.

Theatre Auditions

ANNOUNCING OPEN CALL AUDITION FOR CoPA THEATRE

FALL 2026 PLAYS:

Witness for the Prosecution by Agatha Christie

Doubt: A Parable by John Patrick Shanley

When: Monday, August 24, 5p-10p.

Where: Kleist Rehearsal Studio (Kleist, second floor)

Please complete and submit your Audition Form online using the link below. A link to sign up for an audition slot is provided on the audition form as well as in this notice.

DEADLINE: Friday August 21 at 11a.

If you miss this deadline, you will not be able to get a scheduled audition time. You can still come to the audition, but you will need to come in person on Aug 24 and get on the wait list to be seen as soon as you can be worked in. You will also need to manually fill out a paper Audition Form at that time.

Please note: If the audition slots fill up, we will open up more slots. So if there is not an available slot when you attempt to sign up, don’t panic, just check back later. We will continue to add slots as needed until the deadline. If the deadline is approaching and there are still no slots available, or if you need to change your time slot, you may email Amanda (aschaefe@bw.edu) and alert her to your need to sign up or make a change. AUDITION SLOT SIGN UP LINK

AUDITION LOCATION and CHECK IN: CHECK IN WILL BE LOCATED ON THE FIRST FLOOR OF KLEIST, in the lobby on the east side of the building (not the big lobby off the Mainstage on the west side.) This lobby will also be the holding area for actors, with the Blue Room available for warming up and easy access to restrooms. On audition day, please CHECK IN at the check-in table in the lobby, and when it is your time to audition, house management staff will send you up the stairs from the lobby into the newly designated Kleist Rehearsal Studio on the second floor (formerly an art studio.) Please check in 30 minutes in advance of your time slot. Don't forget your headshot/resume.

HEADSHOT REQUIREMENT: You will need to upload your headshot/resume into the Audition Form as instructed on the form, and bring with you to the audition 1 hard copy of your headshot and resume for each of the directors of the shows you wish to be considered for. These can be black and white copies.

ELIGIBILITY: In order to be eligible to audition, students must have a minimum of a 2.0 cumulative GPA. The Audition Form will ask that you confirm you have checked your GPA and that you are eligible. Note that BFA Acting students are required to audition regardless of GPA, however the 2.0 minimum is still required in order to be eligible for casting. BFA freshmen are not eligible to audition in the Fall of their freshman year.

AUDITION REQUIREMENT:

  • Each actor will be given a total of three (3) minutes for their audition. A timekeeper will be present.
  • Please prepare two (2) contrasting monologues totaling less than 3 minutes.
  • If you want to be considered for Witness for the Prosecution, please use a British dialect for some portion of your audition.

CASTING: Cast lists will be posted by end of day on Friday, August 28.
