New Resident Assistant (RA) Process

"New" means that you are not currently an RA.  All current students are eligible to apply to be an RA as long as they:

  • Will be a full-time enrolled undergraduate BW student for next academic year
  • Meet the minimum GPA (2.5) and conduct (academic, student, and Residence Life and Housing) requirements

Resident Assistants will receive a housing credit (equivalent to the cost of a room), a single room (if available), a micro-fridge, parking pass, option to request a Senior meal plan, and a financial award ($250/semester) applied to their BW student account once per semester.

If you are part of the RA alternate pool for 2024-25, you will need to reapply for the position if you wish to be considered for 2025-2026!

Lead Resident Assistant (LRA) Process

"Lead" is an advanced leadership role on the RA team (must be current RA and meet other criteria to be considered). The LRA provides support and assistance to a supervisor (typically a Hall Director or Area Coordinator) within a housing community comprised of one or more residence hall buildings. LRAs are expected to commit a substantial amount of time to their position, estimated at 15 hours per week.

Summary of qualifications:

  • Enrolled as a full-time student with no more than 18 credit hours.
  • At least a 2.5 cumulative grade point average (must be maintained).
  • In good academic, residence life, and student conduct standing.
  • Must be current Resident Assistant in good standing with the department.
  • One year of Resident Assistant experience by fall 2025 strongly preferred.

Lead Resident Assistants will receive a housing credit (equivalent to the cost of a room), a single room (if available), a micro-fridge, parking pass, option to request a Senior meal plan, and a financial award ($375/semester) applied to their BW student account once per semester.

Returning/Midyear Resident Assistant (RA) Process

"Returning" is for current academic year RAs who wish to considered to return as an RA for the upcoming academic year. In this instance, "midyear" means that you were hired to begin anytime after January 1, 2025; midyears still must complete a returning RA application to be considered for placement for the following year.

RAs are not automatically guaranteed rehire for the following year. Since performance and growth in position help determine whether an RA is rehired for the following year, an RA's evaluation and whether or not an RA is on corrective action will factor into an RA's ability to be placed for the upcoming academic year.  Current RAs must also:

  • Be a full-time enrolled BW undergraduate student for next academic year
  • Meet the minimum GPA and conduct (academic, student, and Residence Life and Housing) requirements

Resident Assistants will receive a housing credit (equivalent to the cost of a room), a single room (if available), a micro-fridge, parking pass, option to request a Senior meal plan, and a financial award ($375/semester) applied to their BW student account once per semester.
