Need to meet with an advisor?

Each student's academic journey is unique and we’re here to help navigate! Advisors are your partners in planning, problem-solving, and achieving your goals. Whether you’re exploring majors, preparing for post-graduation, or need guidance - we’re here for you.

Students must meet with their advisors each semester to be released for course registration.

Program requirements

Understanding degree requirements and how courses fit into their program and time at BW.

Post-graduation life

Preparing for employment or graduate school by reviewing their history of coursework, future timelines, and internship opportunities.

Academic challenges

Discussing academic challenges, identifying resources for success, and receiving guidance on the transition to college life.

Goals and aspirations

Planning and establishing academic, career-related, or personal development goals and how to achieve these during a student's BW journey.

How to prepare for your advising appointment:

  1. 1

    Prepare your schedule/graduation timeline.

Review your academic progress in the Student Planning Tool so that you and your advisor have material to work with during your appointment.

Make sure to have courses and sections selected for your advisor to review for next semester's schedule. If necessary, we have tutorial videos on the Student Planning tool here.

  2. 2

Prepare a list of questions or concerns

While reviewing your plan, prepare a list of questions or concerns you have about your future coursework, career goals, or available opportunities.

  3. 3

Review your program requirements and upcoming deadlines

Confirm your program requirements on the MyProgress tool or the course catalog. In addition, review any upcoming deadlines or your specific registration time.

  4. 4

Set a reminder for your advising appointment

Mark your appointment in a calendar and set a reminder so you're there on time. If you're confused about the details of your meeting, email your advisor to confirm.
