The Harriet H. and Paul "Sparky" Adams Memorial Fund
The Harriette H. and Paul "Sparky" Adams Memorial Fund
Reason Established: During their thirty-three year association with BW, Harriette and Sparky held a fundamental belief in the potential of the students with whom they taught, coached, worked and learned. Both came to their respective disciplines (Nursing and Health and Physical Education) by way of their BW undergraduate experience. Harriette served for many years as a staff nurse and later as Director of the Health Center where her strong administrative skills and her passion for Nursing benefitted scores of student nurses, colleagues and student patients.
Sparky's reputation as a staunch defender of Health and Physical Education and its role in American and international school settings was gained by demonstrated excellence in the classrooms on campus, in the Middle East and Southeast Asia. He will probably be best remembered as a highly successful coach of cross-country and track and field, which he considered adjuncts to the main purpose of an athlete's tenure at Baldwin Wallace, that purpose being to obtain an education.
Sparky and Harriette nurtured three generations of students into adulthood while raising two children with care and love. The lives they touched, the examples they set for their children and grandchildren, and this memorial fund comprise their legacy.
