    The Paul E. and Miriam A. Pendleton Family Scholarship

    Reason Established: Paul Pendleton, Baldwin Wallace University trustee, and his wife Miriam have established this scholarship to enhance the possibilities of potential students to enter and graduate from BW. Paul is a former superintendent of schools of three Ohio school districts, president of Pendleton Enterprises, owner of Finding Leaders and part owner of the Santa Rita Collaborative. He has served as the Executive Director for the Ohio Council for Academic Excellence, the Mohican Institute and has been an adjunct faculty member at several universities.

    Miriam is a former science teacher and school guidance counselor. Now she is an Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist for the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. As young persons, many educators and other interested individuals encouraged and assisted Paul and Miriam in their efforts to secure a college education. Now they want to offer that same opportunity for students to succeed at Baldwin Wallace University.

    The Vincent K. Petrella Scholarship

    Reason Established: Vince Petrella graduated from Baldwin Wallace in 1982 with a BA in Business Adminstration. While at BW, he wrestled, served as a resident advisor, and was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha. Upon graduating, Vince worked for Price Waterhouse until 1995 when he joined Lincoln Electric Company. Vince is currently CFO and Executive Vice President of Lincoln Electric. He joined BW's Board of Trustees in 2013.     Dr. Russell H. Plumb, Jr. '65 Scholarship

    Family members of Dr. Russell H. Plumb, Jr., '65 established this scholarship to honor their brother. Russ transferred to BW after one year of coursework at another university. During his time at BW, Russ excelled as a chemistry major and enjoyed working on the student newspaper, the Exponent. He was also a member of the Dayton C. Miller Honor Society, American Chemical Society and Kappa Mu Epsilon. His education at BW enabled him to earn his master's and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin in the field of Water Chemistry. In his professional life, Russ was instrumental in planning cleanups of toxic waste sites in the United States.

    Reason Established: Rebecca Snowball Reeves graduated from Baldwin Wallace in 1966 with a BS degree in home economics. She earned her Master's in Public Health and Doctor of Public Health from The University of Texas School of Public Health in Houston, Texas. As an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, Becky was the Managing Director of the Behavioral Medicine Research Center. Her team studied the effects of lifestyle changes of weight loss in persons with Type II diabetes and heart disease. Becky served in various offices of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (formerly the American Dietetic Association) including President. Hugh, a graduate of the University of Texas, worked as a mechanical engineer in the petroleum industry. Becky established this scholarship to recognize Baldwin Wallace for the education she received that allowed her to achieve her career goals.

    The Charles W. Reutiman Scholarship

    Reason Established: Charles Reutiman graduated from Baldwin Wallace College in 1960 with a BA in French. While enrolled at Baldwin Wallace, Charles continued his exploration of classical music by taking cello lessons from a very fine musician, Mr. Harry Fuchs of the Cleveland Orchestra. Charles studied abroad in France for one semester. He appreciated French culture and French cuisine. During his service in the U.S. Army in South Vietnam, he did French to English translations for the NSA. He retired as a Chappaqua, NY school bus driver in 2006. This scholarship supports French students with financial need, with a first preference for French majors and second for French minors. A third preference is for students majoring or minoring in any foreign language with financial need.

    Reason Established: For over a century, The Riemenschneider Family has been involved in creative leadership at Baldwin-Wallace College. Ed's dad, Professor Albert Riemenschneider founded the B-W Conservatory of Music in 1899. Ed, a long time physician in Akron and his wife Mary Beth Tristram were both alumni and were involved in the life of the college throughout their adult lives. Their focus was on the Conservatory of Music and Ed helped found The Riemenschneider Bach Institute.

    Reason Established: Amy R. Riley was the daughter of Ruth Froman Riley ’48 and William J. Riley ’48. William graduated with a degree in Business Administration and later received his MBA in Banking and Finance from Case Western Reserve. He was a CPA and had been the controller of a number of corporations. Ruth enjoyed a career in Physical Science and German. Amy was a talented artist who created numerous pieces of artwork in a variety of media. She wove lap robes, was an accomplished woodworker and was expert as using a lathe. She enjoyed gardening and “constructing” artwork, continually honing her creative talents. Amy was taken from us far too soon in a motorcycle accident in 2021. The donor prefers the scholarship be awarded to students majoring in a STEM field, including mathematics, biology, environmental science, neuroscience, chemistry, physics, computer science and related areas, data science and engineering.

    The William J. Riley '48 Scholarship

    Reason Established: William J. Riley ’48 graduated with a degree in Business Administration and later received his MBA in Banking and Finance form Case Western Reserve University. Bill had served in the Air Force during WWII as a B24 navigator. After his service, Bill attended BW and I was there that he met his wife, Ruth Froman ’48. They were married and raised three children together. Bill had been the controller of a number of corporations, and later started his own business, William J. Riley & Associates, and successfully helped clients manage their wealth for decades. Ruth was a trailblazer at BW majoring in Chemistry and German, with a minor in Math. She worked at the B.F. Goodrich Research center, and later taught Physical Science and German in the Parma School System. Ruth retired from Ciba Corning Diagnostics having fully utilized her degrees throughout her career. After Bill’s death, Ruth married Richard C. Ihde and they enjoyed spending time with their families and traveling around the world, until his untimely death on a shipwreck in the Aegean Sea in 2000.

    The Dr. Dean L. & Dorothy Frazer Robb Family Scholarship

    Reason Established: Dean L. Robb was professor of mathematics at BW from 1946 until his death in 1967. For seven summers, he was director of the National Science Foundation Mathematics Institute, held on the B-W campus for secondary school teachers. He was a member of the National Mathematics Association, was a Mason and served in the U.S. Air Force from its inception until 1945.

    Reason Established:  Jim ’62 and Jean ’61 Robejsek have been active members of the BW community for over 50 years. Jim was an outstanding senior and active in Greek life during his years at BW. Jean is past president of BW’s Institute for Learning in Retirement. As Berea residents, they remain active in BW life, and with this scholarship wish to support students with financial need as they work to complete their BW degrees.

    The Judith A. (Tredway) Rocks Art & Humanities Scholarship

    Reason Established: Judy and her husband, Dr. James. Rocks established The Judith Ann Tredway Rocks Scholarship to assist students majoring in art and the humanities. Judy graduated from Baldwin-Wallace College in 1963 with a degree in biology. She earned additional degrees from Northwestern University and Loyola University. Judy was much more than a scientist. After a successful career as a physical therapist, she was able to pursue one of her many artistic passions, watercolor painting. Upon her retirement in 1994, Judy enrolled in painting classes at the Old Town Art School in Chicago. She especially enjoyed capturing the beauty of dancers since she had studied ballet and had a keen knowledge of human anatomy.

    The Pauline K. Roehm Endowment for International Studies

    Pauline K. Roehm '30 was a loyal BW alumna, attending reunions and B-W events in Washington and Baltimore for many decades. She was outspoken in her love and support for Baldwin Wallace. After traveling around the world by herself for over a year, without a specific itinerary, she wrote about her experiences in a first person account, published under the title, "Always First Class".

    The Charles and Katherine Rotuno Freshman Award was created to support deserving incoming freshman students who demonstrate financial need. Charles E. Rotuno is a 1986 graduate of Baldwin Wallace University and has served on the BW Board of Trustees since 2011, and was selected as Chairman in 2016. The Rotuno family has long demonstrated loyalty and generosity to Baldwin Wallace and holds a strong affinity for BW's music therapy program due to the positive experience of their daughter Katie, BW Class of 2012.

    The Dr. James M. Ruegsegger '22 Fund

    Reason Established: Jim Ruegsegger was one of BW's most distinguished graduates. As a graduate of the class of 1922, he entered the World of Medicine with a concern for others that is the hallmark of a BW education. His effective research on polio, pneumonia, diphtheria, meningitis, and tetanus and his service to country earned him the Alumni Merit Award. It was Jim's decision to return to BW a portion of his resources for this endowment to help future BW biology students.
