Join the BW_Jacket Wi-Fi Network on your Android device

This step-by-step guide will walk you through the process, ensuring you can successfully join the network and stay connected on campus. Having reliable WiFi access is essential for using online resources, attending virtual classes, and staying in touch, so be sure to follow the instructions carefully.

    Visit wifi.bw.edu

    Launch an internet browser on your device (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge). Enter wifi.bw.edu in the address bar of your internet browser, then press Enter or Go.

    Agree to the Terms & Conditions

    IMPORTANT: You must read and agree to the BW Wireless Terms of Use & User License Agreement/Disclaimer before joining the BW_Jacket WiFi Network.

    • Click or touch Terms & Conditions to read the BW Wireless Terms of Use & User License Agreement/Disclaimer.
    • Click or touch Privacy Policy to review the BW Privacy Policy
    • Click or touch the I agree to the Terms and Conditions box to acknowledge you have read the Terms & Conditions and will comply.
    • Click or touch the Continue button

    NOTE: You may need to accept the Terms & Conditions a second time.

    Enter your BW Email Address

    • Enter your BW Email Address in the email field.
    • Click Next.

    Sign in with your BW Credentials

    • Enter your BW Email Address in the Username field.
    • Enter your BW Password in the Password field.
    • Click Sign in.

    Approve Your Sign-in with MFA

    • Approve your account sign-in using the Microsoft Authenticator App and enter the number displayed on the screen into the app.
    • Enter the text code that was sent to your mobile device.

    Generate a Password

    NOTE: If this is your first time signing into wifi.bw.edu, you will need to generate a WPA2 Password.

    • Locate the Generate a WPA2 password section.
    • Click Generate Password

    Scroll to Manage Device(s)

    The WPA2 Password and QR Code options will be used for devices that do not have displays (voice assistants, smart light bulbs, etc.) Scroll down to the Manage Device(s) to enter the MAC Address on your android device.

    • Locate the MAC Address on your android device
    • Enter the MAC Address of your android device in the Mac Address field.
    • Enter a name for your device in the Device Name field.
    • Click or touch +Add

What is a MAC Address?

A MAC (Media Access Control) address is a unique identifier assigned to your Android device's Wi-Fi adapter. It helps networks recognize and manage devices.

  1. How to find the MAC Address on your Android device

    • Touch Settings
    • Touch About phone
    • Touch Status information
    • Locate Phone Wi-Fi MAC Address

    The Phone Wi-Fi MAC Address is the MAC Address for your Android device you need to enter in the Mac Address field.

    Verify your Android device is registered

    Once you have added the Mac Address, verify your device is registered. You can double-check the Mac Address is entered correctly.

    Turn off Randomized MAC

    Once your android device is registered, you can now connect to the BW_Jacket Wi-Fi Network.

    IMPORTANT: The randomized MAC address must be turned off before connecting the BW_Jacket.

    To turn off the Random Address on your Android device:

    • Touch Settings
    • Touch Connections
    • Touch Wi-Fi
    • Press and hold on BW_Jacket
    • Touch Manage Network Settings
    • Touch View more
    • Locate and touch MAC address
    • Touch Phone MAC to change the MAC address type from Randomized MAC to Phone MAC
    • Touch the back arrow to return to the BW_Jacket network settings
    • Touch BW_Jacket to connect

    IMPORTANT: Depending on your version of Android your process may differ slightly. BW_Jacket use the MAC Address on your Android device to permit network access. This connection is extremely secure because device MAC addresses cannot be duplicated. Only turn off the Randomized MAC Wi-Fi Address if you are absolutely certain the network you are connecting to is secure.
